the first, maker's mark indistinct, London 1783, with a later chased side-lipped bowl and turned wooden handle, 36cm long; the second, Continental, maker's mark CFH, with a side-lipped bowl, 35.5cm long; the third, probably by Hester Bateman, London 1784, with an oval bowl and baleen handle, 32.5cm long; the fourth, by James McKay, Edinburgh 1818, the oval bowl with a shaped edge, baleen handle, 37.5cm long. (4) 5.7 troy ounces gross
