"This cat was drawn by the Countess of Burlington and given by her to the Hon Rob Fairfax 1740"

Coloured chalks/pastels

Robert was to become the 7th Lord Fairfax of Cameron, Major, 1st Life Guards, MP of Leeds Castle in Kent. From 1750 to 1757 he lived at 1 Savile Row on the Burlington Estate. Our thanks to Neil Jeffares for his assistance in cataloguing this lot.
